Retail Leasing and Your Franchise

Q. Why lease a shop?

A. To get out of it of course.
The purpose of a retail lease is to create and maintain the value of your business. The way this value is realised is to eventually sell the asset.

In a retail business the goodwill, the value of the asset, is secured by the brand and the location. Without a location a retail brand has no value. It is the lease that secures the location. Hence the value of your asset, the business, is directly dependent on maintaining a viable lease agreement. This requires much more than just negotiating a new rent every five years. This workshop will cover the basics of negotiating, renewing and managing your retail lease and your relationship with the Landlord to meet the commercial objectives of your business
