Q1. How long have you been the WA Regional Master Franchisee for Aussie Pooch Mobile?
A: I have been working in this position for 5 years.
Q2. How many franchisees do you have in WA?
A. Currently, I have 23 Franchisees.
Q3. Aussie Pooch Mobile has made a positive contribution to the local community for several years, can you share a brief history on their involvement?
A: Sponsoring local sports clubs, contributing to the community by organising dog events, educating customers on dogs through support voluntary groups, dog washing events to raise money for charities, networking with other local businesses to make connections and grow awareness.
Q4. What is the biggest challenge right now in your particular business and the sector you trade in?
A: Demand for our services are very high but the industry has been hugely undercharging for years and with rising costs of everything groomers are feeling this. There is a need to grow the industry so that workers are paid their worth and to keep up groomers in the industry long term.
Q5. Do you see that there needs to be a separate support structure for WA Women in Franchising?
A: Yes, I’d love to see us women supporting each other more.
Q6. What are some of the key issues facing women in franchising?
A: Lack of support, work-life balance and a lack of female mentors.
Q7. What is a key driver for customer loyalty and how are you attracting loyal customers?
A: Connecting with your customers by listening, understanding their needs and always providing service above and beyond their expectations.
Q8. What are some attributes for successful women in franchising?
A: Unafraid to take risks, follow their intuition and stive for success.
Q9. Define ‘success’ in five words.
A: Accomplishing your goals through commitment.
Q10. Who has been the biggest influence on your career to date and why?
A: Steve Turner (previous WA Master Franchisee). I respected the way he managed a successful business whilst still being down to earth and a very lovely person to know.
Q11. How old were you when you got your first pet and what was their name?
A: 7 years old, Sniffy the Beagle. I called her that because she sniffed everything! I was very imaginative as a child obviously….Haha!
